it is more than just makeup

I strive to lead others through my work and what I am passionate about. This summer, I have discovered that I find the most joy when other people find or feel happy.

The reason why I started doing makeup was because I wanted to make myself feel pretty. I loved experimenting with new colors, palettes that I would get from my mom, and using them in any way I could. I then fell in love with makeup because it was what I liked to do, but also because it made me feel good about myself.

I was talking with my mom one day and she asked me why I didn’t do makeup on other people. I told her it was because I was afraid I would make a mistake and make them sad. She then offered the alternative, and said, you could make it the most special day of their life, feeling so beautiful. It was something I had never thought about. I could boost people’s happiness and self-confidence by one simple thing, and that was making them look good.

I finally took a class to be certified in makeup by Glam Lab Studios, and I became an official Makeup Artist! With school, it has been challenging but also such a blessing with work. My sorority sisters have formals and date dashes that they ask me to help with, and my goal is to enhance features, while making them feel beautiful in their own skin.

It has made me realize my impact, even if it is so small. Even if it is for just one night out of a lifetime, all people deserve to feel beautiful. Where I find, my happiness is when others are feeling confident in their own skin, beautiful inside and out.
